Consultant & Contractor Experience

Each of the Principals at Gerber Engineering has experience both as a consultant and as a contractor. Gary Gerber was Senior Engineer at VECA Electric. Andy Ball has been involved with design-build teams since the beginning of his career and has a background in residential construction.

We find that this experience provides us insight into the construction process that benefits not only our contractor clients but also enables us to work on a consultant team in a traditional “plan and spec” environment with an eye toward keeping change orders to a minimum by producing documents that are highly biddable, account for constructibility, and incorporated true value engineering into the design process.

For over 30 years Gary Gerber has consulted with owners, design professionals and contractors for facilities electrical systems. His project experience ranges from educational and institutional facilities to high-end office buildings, high-rise hotels, data centers and industrial facilities. Systems experience includes medium voltage building power systems design, on-site generation systems, high-reliability un-interruptible power supply systems and low-voltage systems design. Prior to Gerber Engineering Inc., Gary Gerber was Senior Engineer at VECA Electric and was a principal at Coffman Engineers, Inc.

Andy Ball has 10 years of experience in the design of a wide variety of complex commercial, institutional and industrial facilities. His project experience ranges from high-density data centers, high-rise office buildings, multi-building office complexes, residential condos, retail and educational facilities, biotech labs, assisted living facilities and cellular site power systems.

Prior to forming Gerber Engineering, Gary and Andy worked together at Gerber & Vail, Inc., Dinsdale Carlson & Vail, Inc., Bouillon, Inc., and collaborated on projects with Valley Electric.
